Choosing a name for your new Labrador can be a fun and exciting process. But it can also be a little bit daunting. What’s more, the name you end up choosing will be with your dog for the rest of its life.

Chances are that you’ll also be calling it out loud quite often, particularly in public. Basically, anywhere you take your dog. For that reason, it’s important to choose a name that you and your dog will be happy with for years to come.

Things to consider when picking a name are the dog’s breed (Lab, obviously), as well as their temperament. It’s also important to choose a name that is easy to say and doesn’t sound too similar to other words or commands you may use with your dog and a shorter name is easier for your dog to recognise and respond to.

According to dog walking and pet sitting site Rover, there were a bunch of new names hitting the top 10 lists in 2022. Delving into the homes of over a million pet parents, they determined the most popular dog names of the year – and some may surprise you!
